Nickel-Iron pocket type alkaline storage batteries can be divided into low and medium rate based on their discharge current (discharge rate). Max discharge rate of low rate battery is 0.5C5A(C5 is the capacity) and medium rate battery is 3.5 C5A.They are widely used in electric tractor DC power supply, lighting, UPS & starting. 

 

Construction of the cell The positive and negative active materials are pocketed respectively in the perforated steel strips and pressed into the plates which forms into positive and negative electrodes. There is a separator between the positive and negative electrodes. The electrode groups are firmly mounted in the plastic container.The lid and container are welded together. The positive and negative terminal respectively pass through the hole of lid and are tightened by the nuts.This is the positive and negative of the cell.There is a electrolyte filling hole in the cover. This hole is usually equipped with a plastic gas-plug.It can be opened at any time when it is needed to fill electrolyte. The plug can release the gas which generated inside the battery and also can keep the impurities and dust from entering the battery. Main performance of the battery .

Nominal Voltage: 1.2V
Each cell has a nominal voltage of 1.2 volts. No matter the size of the cell, all Nickel Iron cells are 1.2volts.
To make a battery, you add cells together until you get the voltage you require.
Example: 12 Volts = 10 x 1.2volt cells 24 Volts = 20 x 1.2volt cells
48 Volts = 40 x 1.2volt cells
The advantage of making a battery up from individual cells is that if one cell fails, you replace that cell.
You can add to your battery bank at any time with Nickel Iron batteries if you need to store more power. This cannot
be done with lead acid batteries without reducing the life of the new batteries.
12 Volts = 10 x 1.2volt cells
24 Volts = 20 x 1.2volt cells
48 Volts = 40 x 1.2volt cells
